RG Talk: Top 25 Cozy Places in Nashville

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and not just because we are knee-deep in preparations for the annual Christmas Trees and Trails festival or adding decor clients to the RG Designs roster. Though these are some of our favorite projects, we also love that this season brings the opportunity to drink spiced cider, design websites by candlelight, spend quality time bundled up indoors with loved ones, and work on our “hygge”.
This Danish term has been widely talked about the past few years and is defined as,

“a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.”

More simply put: relaxation, friendliness, gratitude and ultimately, peace.

We have been intentional about creating “hygge” in our own office but have been searching high and low for that feeling around Nashville for the days we work at a coffee shop or want a nice dinner out with friends. We’re talking deep armchairs, plush pillows, string lights, candles, or even just some festive decor, but most importantly, a friendly smile and room for all!

Louisa Thomsen Brits, the author of “The Book of Hygge: The Danish Art of Contentment, Comfort, and Connection,” calls it a practical way of creating “sanctuary” in the middle of very real life. Rooted in finding warmth and optimism during their brutal and bleak winters, hygge has grown to shape the Danish way of thinking.

Their definition of “coziness” goes beyond the literal atmosphere it’s describing and speaks more to a certain mindset. Perhaps the term  “coziness” really just means being happy with what we have, finding peace in the midst of chaos, being welcoming and inclusive to all, and focusing on connecting with those around us despite our differences.

In a time of go-go-go, nothing seems more important than slowing down. In a time of constant distraction, nothing seems more luxurious than finding presence. In a time of quantity, we yearn for quality. In a world of division, we strive to find similarities. And although sleek lines and modern designs are beautiful, we recommend finding a coffee shop one can spend an entire winter day working in.

We are so grateful for the many businesses in Nashville that have made us feel the comforts of home, greeted us with a warm welcoming, or have achieved “hygge” one way or another. Here are just a few …

Design Study – Our Take On Branding an Interior Design Firm

Design Study – Our Take On Branding an Interior Design Firm

We set out to create a mockup for an Interior Design concept called “Studio 27.” The name emulates innovation, sparking a sense of design experimentation and discovery. As seen in the mood board, the firm is eccentric when it comes to design. Unique colors, shapes and patterns are some of the main focal points of the rooms created. This plays into the overall brand as Studio27 remains selective over the projects and clients they choose to work with. When you see the room, you will know it was the work of Studio27.

The Value of Brand Loyalty

The Value of Brand Loyalty

The key to brand loyalty is value.

Establishing value, increasing value, sustaining value, retaining value, advertising value, communicating value… and so on. You get it.

The value your product and/or service provides is why the customer continues to come to you. Knowing the ‘why’ helps craft your evolving ‘how’ and the loyalty grows from there.

Brand loyalty requires value to exist, visuals to be recognizable and cohesive, and consistency to carry them all the way home.
